SEOUL: Global prices of raw materials such as oil and metals will probably head higher next year on the back of the recovering world economy, but the pace will be "limited" by various factors, South Korea's central bank said on Thursday. The Bank of Korea did not provide any forecasts of its own for key raw materials prices in 2011, but said in a report that high inventories, an expected rise in supply and efforts by emerging countries to cool their economies should limit price growth. "Many forecasting institutions predict the kind of ultra-strong prices that sparked inflation fears in 2007-2008 will not be repeated," the central bank said in the report published on its website. -PB News
