NAB ap­proves in­quiry against NHA of­fi­cials

Chair­man NAB, Ad­mi­ral (Retd) Fasih Bokhari presided over the Ex­ec­u­tive Board meet­ing and de­cided to au­tho­rise an in­quiry in a case against of­fi­cials of the Na­tional High­way Author­ity (NHA).

The ac­cused per­sons have been al­leged for mis­use of author­ity and vi­o­la­tion of PPRA rules in award­ing the ten­der of five Toll Plazas (T/P Iqbal Sha­heed, T/P Haro, T/P Man­dra, T/P Tar­raki and T/P Jhelum). NHA floated ten­der for its five Toll Plazas in Septem­ber 2011.

NAB ob­served that bid- ding process is in vi­o­la­tion of Pub­lic Pro­cure­ment Rules (PPRA) and ad­vised NHA un­der its Preven­tion Regime to re-ten­der the award of said Toll Plazas on pri­or­ity.

Na­tional High­way Author­ity was warned to take mea­sures to en­sure trans­parency and im­par­tial­ity in the light of PPRA Rules 2004, said a press re­lease is­sued here on Thurs­day.

The project for the time be­ing has been halted on the di­rec­tion of A&P Division and no con­tract has been awarded as yet. The Board meet­ing de­cided to close three in­quiries against Ab­dul Ma­jeed Khan, DIG Po­lice.
