SC stops funds of 732 schemes in Balochistan
The Supreme Court Friday stopped the release of Rs 24 billion funds of 732 unapproved developmental schemes in Balochistan.
The case was heard by a two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry and Justice Jawad S Khawaja.
The petition with respect to holding further issuance of funds and to halt the current 732 unregistered schemes in Balochistan was submitted by Abdur Rahim Ziarat.
The petitioner in his application said that funds were being released under the PSDP without the approval of the Balochistan Assembly and that the Court should take action against it.
Under these unapproved schemes till now Rs 30 million each Member Provincial Assembly of Balochistan was released.
However, it is clearly mentioned in the official documents that the aforementioned schemes are unapproved, the petitioner added. The Court after issuing the stay order against further release of funds formed a committee under the headship of Chief Secretary Balochistan.
