WAPDA storm to 3-day win against UBL

A col­lec­tive bowl­ing per­for­mance from Wa­ter and Power De­vel­op­ment Author­ity (WAPDA) routed United Bank Lim­ited (UBL) twice in Sar­godha to com­plete vic­tory by an in­nings and 109 runs. UBL were dis­missed for 121 and 91, while WAPDA made 321.

UBL were asked to bat on the first day and had reached 51 for 1 be­fore their troubles be­gan. They lost five wick­ets for 12 runs, and were in dan­ger of be­ing dis­missed for less than 100, un­til Kashif Bhatti hit 39 off 34 de­liv­er­ies.

Azhar At­tari and Zul­fiqar Babar took three wick­ets apiece as UBL were shot out for 121 in 39.2 overs. Half-cen­turies from three of WAPDA's top four bats­men en­sured their side would se­cure a huge first-in­nings lead. Kaleem Ahmed scored 70, Shoaib Maq­sood made 52 and Aamer Sa­j­jad 54.

There was a mid­dle-or­der wob­ble dur­ing which WAPDA lost four wick­ets for 51 runs but the lower or­der ral­lied and took the score to 321, a first-in­nings lead of 200. Rum­man Raees claimed 4 for 66 for UBL, while Mo­ham­mad Ir­shad took 3 or 87.
