Fool­proof se­cu­rity di­rected dur­ing Muhar­ram

Com­mis­sioner Rawalpindi Im­dad Ul­lah Bosal has di­rected the make fool­proof se­cu­rity ar­range­ments for peace­ful pas­sage of Muhar­ram-ul-Har­ram.

He said that zero tol­er­ance would be shown against un­reg­is­tered ve­hi­cles and mo­tor­cy­cles dur­ing Muhar­ram to avoid any un­to­ward in­ci­dent. He said the ve­hi­cles with­out num­ber plates found mov­ing on roads would be im­pounded in re­spec­tive po­lice sta­tions.

Elected rep­re­sen­ta­tives of Rawalpindi city should be in­cluded in com­mit­tees be­ing con­sti­tuted for su­per­vi­sion of Muhar­ram pro­ces­sions which will help law en­force­ment agen­cies for keep­ing peace­ful at­mos­phere.

He is­sued these direc­tions in a meet­ing held here in his of­fice to re­view the ar­range­ments of Muhar­ram-ulHar­ram. The meet­ing was also at­tended by Re­gional Po­lice Of­fi­cer (RPO) Capt. Muham­mad Zubair, Dis­trict Co­or­di­na­tion Of­fi­cer (DCO) Saqib Za­far, MNAs Ma­lik Sha­keel Awan, Ma­lik Ibrar Ah­mad, MPAs She­har­yar Riaz, Raja Muham­mad Hanif, Ch. Muham­mad Ayaz and Mus­lim League leader Ch. Umar Fa­rooq. City Po­lice Of­fi­cer ( CPO) Rawalpindi Azhar Hameed Khokhar, Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent Po­lice (SSP) Spe­cial Branch Mohsin Naqvi, City Traf­fic Of­fi­cer (CTO) Syed Ish­tiaq Shah and SSP CID Rana Shahid Pervaiz were also present on this oc­ca­sion.

RPO and CPO gave the briefing and said that po­lice would be de­ployed for se­cu­rity ar­range­ments and the con­tin­gent of Rangers would also be called to as­sist po­lice.

Com­mis­sioner said that In­te­rior Min­istry would be con­tacted on Pun­jab Gov­ern­ment level to de­pute Rangers where de­manded. He said that the IESCO depart­ment would be writ­ten a let­ter to stop load-shed­ding dur­ing Muhar­ram Ma­jalis whereas Tehsil Mu­nic­i­pal Au­thor­i­ties (TMAs) would be di­rected to ar­range stand by gen­er­a­tors for the Ma­jalis in their re­spec­tive ar­eas in case of any power out­age. He di­rected the po­lice depart­ment that video record­ing of pro­ces­sions and

ma­jalis must be done to trace out the real cul­prits in case of any mishap and ter­ror­ist ac­tiv­ity. A com­plete search op­er­a­tion should be car­ried out for ho­tels and 'Saraais' spe­cially sit­u­ated in Pir­wad­hai area along­with other pop­u­lated ar­eas of the city and a cam­paign be car­ried out against il­le­gal weapons to pre­vent any un­pleas­ant in­ci­dent.

The duty roaster of the staff to be de­puted for Mo­har­ram pos­ses­sions and ma­jalis, com­pre­hen­sive se­cu­rity plan and traf­fic plan in this re­gard be chalked out and sub­mit­ted to Com­mis­sioner Of­fice. Car Park­ing for the Ma­jalis should be set up at rea­son­able dis­tance from the ar­eas of Mu­jalis. Elected Rep­re­sen­ta­tives should also present their pro­pos­als for the steps to be needed for peace­ful pas­sage of Muhar­ram.

Com­mis­sioner Rawalpindi division, RPO, CPO in­formed that their sug­ges­tions would be wel­comed while mak­ing se­cu­rity ar­range­ments of Muhar­ram. CPO also briefed the meet­ing about the crime sit­u­a­tion in the dis­trict and per­for­mance of Po­lice Depart­ment.
