NBP pres­i­dent urged to ac­cept over­due de­mands of staff

Em­ployee’s body asks for restora­tion of in­sur­ance, frozen leaves, re­vo­ca­tion of ap­praisal sys­tem, ful­fill­ment of COD

Na­tional Bank of Pak­istan (NBP) Trade Unions Fed­er­a­tion has urged bank pres­i­dent to or­der his team to ac­cept em­ploy­ees long over­due de­mands.

“We have been writ­ing let­ters to the pres­i­dent Qa­mar Hus­sain throughout his ten­ure as NBP pres­i­dent but we have re­ceived no pos­i­tive re­sponse from his side. On Oc­to­ber 31 also we have writ­ten let­ter to the pres­i­dent as re­minder to or­der his team to im­ple­ment de­cided de­mands,” the NBP em­ploy­ees body said other day.

The fed­er­a­tion have been urg­ing the bank man­age­ment to ap­point re­tired and de­ceased work­ers’ chil­dren in the bank, give job to the le­gal hires of the em­ploy­ees who ex­pired dur­ing their ser­vices and reg­u­larise the staff in ac­cor­dance with the Supreme Court or­der who could not be reg­u­larised due to the slug­gish­ness of the branch man­agers and re­gional heads. The fed­er­a­tion has also been de­mand­ing to in­crease cler­i­cal and non-cler­i­cal staff ed­u­ca­tion al­lowance to Rs 7000, ap­point new cashiers coun­try­wide to meet to the re­quire­ment of qual­i­ta­tive ser­vices for the bank cus­tomers.

The NBP trade Unions’ Fed­er­a­tion has also been de­mand­ing the bank man­age­ment to allo- cate 12 per cent BE­SOS share to the em­ploy­ees, al­low med­i­cal fa­cil­ity for the staff who opted VHS/ GHS pen­sion ben­e­fits for the staff who were reg­u­lar­ized dur­ing 2003 to 2008, in­ves­ti­gate per­for­mance awards and in­crease of­fi­cers’ salaries who are at max­i­mum for two years.

Sim­i­larly the fed­er­a­tion asked the bank to pay re­tire­ment ben­e­fits to the staff and of­fices equal to ex­ec­u­tives and in­crease staff petrol seal-lings TA/.DAs and com­muted pen­sions. The Fed­er­a­tion also de­manded that the bank should pay group in­sur­ance, frozen leaves upon the staff re­tire­ment, re­voke ap­praisal sys­tem and ac­cept other de­mands writ­ten in the Charted of De­mands.
