Lahore, Sar­godha cham­bers ink MOU for co­op­er­a­tion

Lahore Cham­ber of Com­merce and In­dus­try (LCCI), and Sar­godha Cham­ber of Com­merce and In­dus­try (SCCI) Wed­nes­day inked a Mem­o­ran­dum of Un­der­stand­ing (MoU) to wage joint ef­forts and pool their re­sources for pro­mot­ing trade and in­dus­try in their re­spec­tive ar­eas of ju­ris­dic­tion. LCCI Se­nior Vice Pres­i­dent Ir­fan Iqbal Sheikh and SCCI Pres­i­dent Zia Amin Sheikh signed the MoU on be­half of their re­spec­tive Cham­bers.

As per MoU, both the cham­bers will evolve a uni­fied strat­egy on the is­sues of com­mon in­ter­est, share and ex­change all trade-re­lated data with each other for in­creas­ing com­pet­i­tive­ness of goods and re­duc­ing cost of do­ing busi­ness.

Both sides will also co­op­er­ate in prepa­ra­tion of pro­pos­als for Ex­cise and Tax­a­tion mat­ters, bud­getary rec­om­men­da­tions and other na­tional poli­cies, be­sides, con­duct­ing joint re­search stud­ies to strengthen in­dus­tries in their re­spec­tive ar­eas.

On this oc­ca­sion, Zia Sheikh said the har­mony be­tween Lahore and Sar­godha Cham­bers would give fur­ther boost to in­ter cham­ber in­ter­ac­tion, adding that Sar­godha was hub of qual­ity cit­rus, wooden hand­i­crafts and prod­ucts made of salt, there­fore, of­fer match­less op­por­tu­ni­ties for both lo­cal and for­eign in­vestors.

While, Ir­fan Iqbal Sheikh said the MoU was of spe­cial sig­nif­i­cance and would help re­solve the is­sues be­ing faced by the busi­ness community.

The LCCI and SCCI, he added, could con­trib­ute a lot in fur­ther de­vel­op­ing mu­tual trust and un­der­stand­ing of prob­lems re­lat­ing to trade and in­dus­try lo­cated in Lahore and Sar­godha.

He said that a col­lec­tive stand to safe­guard the in­ter­est of busi­ness community was need of the hour. LCCI Vice Pres­i­dent Mian Abuzar Shad said that brand­ing and in­no­va­tive ap­proach hold the key to suc­cess for busi­nesses that want to go global, as­sur­ing that Lahore Cham­ber would ex­tend ev­ery pos­si­ble help to SCCI for high­light­ing the strengths of that area.

Briefing the SCCI del­e­ga­tion about the work­ing of the LCCI, he said, Lahore Cham­ber was work­ing on Open Door Pol­icy to get the is­sues re­solved more ef­fi­ciently. For­mer SCCI Pres­i­dent Mazhar Ah­mad Ma­lik, SCCI Re­search and De­vel­op­ment Cell's Chair­man Faisal Khawaja, Vice Chair­man R&D Javaid Iqbal Chaudhry also spoke on the oc­ca­sion.
