Lahore, Sargodha chambers ink MOU for cooperation
Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), and Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Wednesday inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to wage joint efforts and pool their resources for promoting trade and industry in their respective areas of jurisdiction. LCCI Senior Vice President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh and SCCI President Zia Amin Sheikh signed the MoU on behalf of their respective Chambers.
As per MoU, both the chambers will evolve a unified strategy on the issues of common interest, share and exchange all trade-related data with each other for increasing competitiveness of goods and reducing cost of doing business.
Both sides will also cooperate in preparation of proposals for Excise and Taxation matters, budgetary recommendations and other national policies, besides, conducting joint research studies to strengthen industries in their respective areas.
On this occasion, Zia Sheikh said the harmony between Lahore and Sargodha Chambers would give further boost to inter chamber interaction, adding that Sargodha was hub of quality citrus, wooden handicrafts and products made of salt, therefore, offer matchless opportunities for both local and foreign investors.
While, Irfan Iqbal Sheikh said the MoU was of special significance and would help resolve the issues being faced by the business community.
The LCCI and SCCI, he added, could contribute a lot in further developing mutual trust and understanding of problems relating to trade and industry located in Lahore and Sargodha.
He said that a collective stand to safeguard the interest of business community was need of the hour. LCCI Vice President Mian Abuzar Shad said that branding and innovative approach hold the key to success for businesses that want to go global, assuring that Lahore Chamber would extend every possible help to SCCI for highlighting the strengths of that area.
Briefing the SCCI delegation about the working of the LCCI, he said, Lahore Chamber was working on Open Door Policy to get the issues resolved more efficiently. Former SCCI President Mazhar Ahmad Malik, SCCI Research and Development Cell's Chairman Faisal Khawaja, Vice Chairman R&D Javaid Iqbal Chaudhry also spoke on the occasion.
