Zar­dari pledges to re­dress Gi­lani’s griev­ances

Pres­i­dent Asif Ali Zar­dari met with for­mer Prime Min­is­ter Yusuf Raza Gi­lani to ad­dress the griev­ances of the Gi­lani fam­ily.

Dur­ing their one on one meet­ing the two dis­cussed FIA no­tices is­sued to the Gi­lani fam­ily. The FIA had sum­moned Yusuf Raza Gi­lani and his son MNA Ab­dul Qadir Gi­lani on Novem­ber 16. The move had prompted the Na­tional Assem­bly’s Stand­ing Com­mit­tee on Rules of Pro­ce­dure and Priv­i­lege to seek a writ­ten re­ply from Di­rec­tor Gen­eral FIA and an in­ves­ti­ga­tion of­fi­cer for is­su­ing the no­tices.

Pres­i­dent Zar­dari and Yusuf Raza Gi­lani also dis­cussed prob­a­ble can­di­dates for the PPP in south­ern Pun­jab. The pres­i­dent also met with par­lia­men­tar­i­ans from South­ern Pun­jab who ad­vo­cated the for­ma­tion of a Sari­aki prov­ince. Pres­i­dent Zar­dari said dur­ing the meet­ing that he did not have the re­quired ma­jor­ity to make a Seraiki prov­ince. Gi­lani as­sured the pres­i­dent that if a bill was pre­sented in par­lia­ment for the for­ma­tion of Seraiki prov­ince, sev­eral mem­bers of the PML- N would vote for it.
