Poverty can be eradicated through Zakat, Usher
Acting President of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, has said that poverty can be eradicated in a very short span of time through implementing the system of Zakat and Usher in true spirit, as it happened during the time of Rightly Guided Caliphs.
Dr. Sajid ur Rehman said that Islam distribution of wealth and made sure its continuous circulation through the obligation of Zakat,Ushr and other compulsory charities.
He was addressing to the inaugural ceremony of the 3day event on ' Women Model United Nations ( IMUN)' organized by the Faculty of Management Sciences ( FMS) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad ( IIUI) from November 16 to November 18, in which the students of 25 university of the Pakistan are participating.
He said the charter of the United Nation is very useful for peaceful co-existence of the humanity and it is the pioneer of human rights in the present day, however, it should be clear that these rights were not given by the United Nation for the first time in the history as these are essential part and parcel of the Islamic creed taught and guaranteed by the Quran and Sunnah of our beloved Prophet (PBUH).
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) reserved the rights of all living creatures for the first time in the history of human beings and holy prophet (PBUH) commanded that it is the duty of each Muslim, male and female, to acquire knowledge.
He urged the UN to initiate serious efforts to resolve the long ignored unsettled issues of Kashmir and Palestine so that the world can become a better place to live for all. Dr. Mazhar Awan, Director Alumni Affairs, United States Education
Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) was the chief guest on the occasion.
It was the first ever event of its nature organized by the students of the university in which the students will be informed from the structure and business of the United Nation Organization (UNO).
Zafar Baigh, Principal Advisor, USEFP, Dr. Munaza Yaqoob, IIUI, Dr. Bashir Khan, Dean FMS ,IIUI, Dr. Tasneem Fatima, Acting Chairperson FMS, IIUI, Amna Baigh, President WMUN and Kashmala Kiran, Vice President WMUN also addressed on the occasion and highlighted the importance of the event.
