PDTRC to start func­tion­ing in end De­cem­ber

The Board of Man­age­ment of Pak­istan Drug Test­ing and Re­search Cen­tre has de­cided to start func­tion­ing of this project by end De­cem­ber 2012. It was an­nounced in the first meet­ing of the Board of Man­age­ment of PDTRC held here yes­ter­day at PIEDMC city of­fice. The ad­vi­sor to the Chief Min­is­ter Pun­jab, Khawaja Sal­man Rafique was the chief guest on this oc­ca­sion. While the Chair­man Pun­jab In­dus­trial Es­tates, SM Tanveer chaired the meet­ing.

The ad­vi­sor to Chief Min­is­ter Pun­jab Khawaja Sala­man Rafique as­sured full sup­port of the gov­ern­ment of Pun­jab and lauded the ini­tia­tive of Pun­jab In­dus­trial Es­tates role to setup PDTRC in or­der to pro­vide drug test­ing fa­cil­i­ties of in­ter­na­tional stan­dard in Pun­jab Prov­ince.

The Chair­man Pun­jab In­dus­trial Es­tates De­vel­op­ment and Man­age­ment Com­pany (PIEDMC) SM Tanveer said that at cost of Rs. 100 mil­lion, this project would not only pro­vide ser­vices to more than 166 Na­tional and multi­na­tional Phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal com­pa­nies sit­u­ated at Sun­dar In­dus­trial Es­tate but en­tire pharma sec­tor of Pun­jab Prov­ince and the coun­try.

The Chair­man PIE said that Gov­ern­ment of Pun­jab un­der the dy­namic lead­er­ship of Chief Min­is­ter Pun­jab Mian Muham­mad Shah­baz Sharif wanted to ef­fec­tively check spu­ri­ous drugs and main­tain high stan­dard and trans­parency in pharma sec­tor .This lab was be­ing setup in the same di­rec­tion. Speak­ing about the im­por­tance of the project, SM Tanveer said the ini­tia­tive would im­prove qual­ity of drugs in the Pun­jab Prov­ince and the coun­try and save time of pharma sec­tor in ex­am­in­ing the sam­ples which were sent abroad for test­ing ear­lier.

The sub­ject project is a pub­lic-pri­vate part­ner­ship model and one of the sub­sidiaries of Pun­jab In­dus­trial Es­tates De­vel­op­ment and Man­age­ment Com­pany. The meet­ing was at­tended by renowned pharma in­dus­tri­al­ists and mem­bers of BOM, PDTRC.
