BISP works to curb poverty: Farzana Raja

Chair­per­son Be­nazir In­come Sup­port Pro­gramme (BISP) Farzana Raja has said that BISP is func­tion­ing suc­cess­fully for al­le­vi­at­ing poverty and em­pow­er­ing women of the coun­try. Talk­ing to a pri­vate tele­vi­sion chan­nel, she said Be­nazir In­come Sup­port Pro­gramme is help­ing the poor and de­serv­ing fam­i­lies. She said that BISP is work­ing in the coun­try trans­par­ently. She said that more than four hun­dred thou­sand peo­ple are in­cluded in the BISP from Balochis­tan prov­ince and they will get ben­e­fit through this pro­gramme.

She said that peo­ple of South Pun­jab are also avail­ing ben­e­fit from this pro­gramme. She said that Rs 54 bil­lion were dis­trib­uted among the poor and de­serv­ing peo­ple of Pun­jab.Farzana Raja said that World Bank and United King­dom is ex­tend­ing fi­nan­cial sup­port for im­part­ing ed­u­ca­tion to the chil­dren. She said that more than 30 mil­lion iden­tity cards were pro­vided to the women through BISP. She said that un­der the BISP in ad­di­tion to cash grant to women, Mi­cro fi­nanc­ing was also ini­ti­ated to pro­vide vo­ca­tional train­ing. She said that dif­fer­ent pro­grammes have been launched in­clud­ing Waseela-e-Taleem, Waseela-eRoz­gar, and Waseela-e-Haq for help­ing the de­serv­ing and poor peo­ple across coun­try.
