BISP works to curb poverty: Farzana Raja
Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Farzana Raja has said that BISP is functioning successfully for alleviating poverty and empowering women of the country. Talking to a private television channel, she said Benazir Income Support Programme is helping the poor and deserving families. She said that BISP is working in the country transparently. She said that more than four hundred thousand people are included in the BISP from Balochistan province and they will get benefit through this programme.
She said that people of South Punjab are also availing benefit from this programme. She said that Rs 54 billion were distributed among the poor and deserving people of Punjab.Farzana Raja said that World Bank and United Kingdom is extending financial support for imparting education to the children. She said that more than 30 million identity cards were provided to the women through BISP. She said that under the BISP in addition to cash grant to women, Micro financing was also initiated to provide vocational training. She said that different programmes have been launched including Waseela-e-Taleem, Waseela-eRozgar, and Waseela-e-Haq for helping the deserving and poor people across country.
