All out resources to be utilised for benefit of youth: Shahbaz
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that provision of resources to the youth to impart them modern knowledge is a highly useful investment, which will have long- term positive impact on the future of the nation and the country. He expressed these views while presiding over a high- level meeting regarding laptops distribution programme.
He said Punjab government has adopted a concrete strategy to impart latest knowledge to the younger generation. He said during previous year, one lakh twenty five thousand laptops were distributed purely on merit basis among the brilliant girl and boy students throughout the province. Shahbaz Sharif said that, during the current year, over one lakh latest laptops are also being distributed, among students of morning and evening classes for which rupees four billions have been earmarked.
Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Chairman Planning and Development, Secretaries of Finance, Higher Education, Schools, Industries besides concerned officers were present.
Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif said that promotion of education is of utmost importance for rapid development of the country. He said Punjab government has taken concrete steps for the uplift of education sector, including establishing of IT labs at more than 4000 high schools throughout the province, from which students from Attock to Rahim Yar Khan are benefitting. He said provision of allout resources would be ensured for the welfare and uplift of younger generation.
He said, like the previous year, laptops would only be distributed on the basis of merit, for which no recommendation or pressure would be accepted. He said 4000 laptops each would also be distributed among girl and boy students of religious seminaries and universities of Islamabad.
