All out re­sources to be utilised for ben­e­fit of youth: Shah­baz

Pun­jab Chief Min­is­ter Shah­baz Sharif has said that pro­vi­sion of re­sources to the youth to im­part them mod­ern knowl­edge is a highly use­ful in­vest­ment, which will have long- term pos­i­tive im­pact on the fu­ture of the na­tion and the coun­try. He ex­pressed these views while pre­sid­ing over a high- level meet­ing re­gard­ing lap­tops dis­tri­bu­tion pro­gramme.

He said Pun­jab gov­ern­ment has adopted a con­crete strat­egy to im­part lat­est knowl­edge to the younger gen­er­a­tion. He said dur­ing pre­vi­ous year, one lakh twenty five thou­sand lap­tops were distributed purely on merit ba­sis among the bril­liant girl and boy stu­dents through­out the province. Shah­baz Sharif said that, dur­ing the cur­rent year, over one lakh lat­est lap­tops are also be­ing distributed, among stu­dents of morn­ing and evening classes for which ru­pees four bil­lions have been ear­marked.

Se­na­tor Per­vaiz Rashid, Spe­cial As­sis­tant to Chief Min­is­ter Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Chair­man Plan­ning and De­vel­op­ment, Sec­re­taries of Fi­nance, Higher Ed­u­ca­tion, Schools, In­dus­tries be­sides con­cerned of­fi­cers were present.

Ad­dress­ing the meet­ing, Shah­baz Sharif said that pro­mo­tion of ed­u­ca­tion is of ut­most im­por­tance for rapid de­vel­op­ment of the coun­try. He said Pun­jab gov­ern­ment has taken con­crete steps for the up­lift of ed­u­ca­tion sec­tor, in­clud­ing es­tab­lish­ing of IT labs at more than 4000 high schools through­out the province, from which stu­dents from At­tock to Rahim Yar Khan are ben­e­fit­ting. He said pro­vi­sion of all­out re­sources would be en­sured for the wel­fare and up­lift of younger gen­er­a­tion.

He said, like the pre­vi­ous year, lap­tops would only be distributed on the ba­sis of merit, for which no rec­om­men­da­tion or pres­sure would be ac­cepted. He said 4000 lap­tops each would also be distributed among girl and boy stu­dents of re­li­gious sem­i­nar­ies and uni­ver­si­ties of Islamabad.
