PM terms hold­ing of D-8 sum­mit a success

Prime Min­is­ter Raja Pervez Ashraf has pledged the re­solve of the na­tion to de­feat the el­e­ments who are play­ing with the lives of the in­no­cent ci­ti­zens.

Ad­dress­ing cab­i­net meet­ing in Is­lam­abad on Wed­nes­day, PM said that in­ves­ti­ga­tion into the in­ci­dents oc­curred in Rawalpindi and Dera Is­mail Khan dur­ing Muhar­ra­mul Haram is in progress and the cul­prits would be given ex­em­plary pun­ish­ment. He pledged the re­solve of the na­tion to de­feat the el­e­ments who are play­ing with the lives of the in­no­cent ci­ti­zens.

The prime min­is­ter ap­pre­ci­ated all those who played an im­por­tant role in main­tain­ing peace dur­ing Muhar­ra­mul Haram. He also paid tributes to all in­clud­ing armed forces‚ se­cu­rity agen­cies‚ po­lice‚ rangers‚ ulema‚ me­dia and the civil so­ci­ety for main­tain­ing unity dur­ing Muhar­ram.

Brief­ing cab­i­net on D-8 sum­mit in Is­lam­abad‚ the prime min­is­ter said D-8 is an im­por­tant fo­rum and mem­bers were of the view that the devel­op­ment and progress of the con­cerned coun­tries are linked up with the sta­bil­ity and peace in Afghanistan.

The mem­ber states ex­pressed their con­fi­dence in the demo­cratic flour­ish­ment in Pak­istan and ap­pre­ci­ated the Pres­i­dent Asif Ali Zar­dari’s ini­tia­tive for trade‚ bank­ing‚ barter trade‚ pref­er­en­tial trade and cur­rency swap among D-8 mem­bers. He said D-8 also ap­pre­ci­ated the ref­or­ma­tion steps be­ing taken by the demo­cratic government in Pak­istan. Prime Min­is­ter Pervez Ashraf con­grat­u­lated all the stake­hold­ers in­clud­ing the For­eign Of­fice for the con­ducive hold­ing of D-8 sum­mit in Is­lam­abad.
