LPG price in­creased by Rs 15 per kg

The mar­ket­ing com­pa­nies on Wed­nes­day in­creased the price of Liq­ue­fied Pe­tro­leum Gas (LPG) by up to Rs 15 per kg. Chair­man of the LPG Dis­trib­u­tors As­so­ci­a­tion Muham­mad Ir­fan Khokhar said that the price of a domestic cylin­der had been raised by up to Rs 170 and a com­mer­cial cylin­der by up to Rs 680.

As a re­sult of the in­crease from Rs 125 to Rs 140 per kg, the domestic cylin­der will be avail­able at Rs 1630 in Karachi, he added. Like­wise, the domestic cylin­der will cost Rs 1690 in La­hore, Gu­jran­wala, Gu­jrat, Jhelum and Faisal­abad, with per kg price rise from Rs 135 to Rs 145, he said.

He said that the LPG would be avail­able at Rs 150-160 per kg in Multan, Bhawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Mur­ree, Rawalpindi, Is­lam­abad and Pe­shawar with the price of domestic cylin­der at Rs 1870. He said that in Azad Jammu and Kash­mir and Bagh the new price of LPG would stand at Rs 180-190 per kg and domestic cylin­der at Rs 2230.

Sim­i­larly, he said, the price had been raised to Rs 200 per kg with domestic cylin­der to Rs 2350 in Gil­git-Baltistan and Fed­er­ally Ad­min­is­tered Tribal Ar­eas (FATA).

Khokhar termed the in­crease un­jus­ti­fied, say­ing what he de­scribed as the ' gas mafia' in shape of mar­ket­ing com­pa­nies were earn­ing un­jus­ti­fied profit.
