Zardari, Qaim discuss Karachi unrest, SPLGO strike
President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday held one-on-one meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah here in Karachi and discussed the current political and lawand-order situation in the province.
According to media reports, they exchanged views over Sindh nationalists’ strike call for November 30 (Friday) against recently introduced local government system which drew condemnation from various parties, including former PPP allies in Sindh – Awami National Party and Pir Pagara’s Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F).
In the wake of Friday’s province-wide strike, the president has reportedly directed the CM to establish contacts with all the political forces opposing Sindh People Local Government Ordinance (SPLGO). Shah also briefed the president over law and order situation in Sindh, especially in Karachi where the Supreme Court of Pakistan has been hearing a case regarding unrest in the metropolis, the hub of Pakistan’s economic activities.
