7 killed and 14 in­jured in sui­cide at­tack on Mulla Nazir

A sui­cide bomber on Thurs­day at­tacked the ve­hi­cle of tribal el­der Mulla Nazir in Wana Bazar in South Waziris­tan Agency, killing seven per­sons, in­clud­ing his three body guards, and wound­ing 14 oth­ers, a se­nior of­fi­cial of the po­lit­i­cal ad­min­is­tra­tion said. As­sis­tant Po­lit­i­cal Agent Wana Shahid Ali Khan told me­dia per­sons on phone that the sui­cide bomber waited for Mulla Nazir in a PCO in the Wana Bazar and blasted him­self close to the ve­hi­cle of com­man­der.

He said that the dead also in­cluded two chil­dren. He said Mulla Nazir also sus­tained mi­nor in­juries. The in­jured, some of them in crit­i­cal con­di­tion, were rushed to the agency's head­quar­ters hospi­tal. The ve­hi­cle of the com­man­der and nearby shops were also dam­aged. Khasadar and South Waziris­tan Levy Force rushed to the spot, cor­doned off the area and started re­lief op­er­a­tion. The ex­plo­sion was heard in a far dis­tance and cre­ated panic among the res­i­dents. Sources said Mula Nazir was at­tacked for rais­ing voices against sui­cide at­tacks and op­pos­ing mil­i­tancy.
