Blas­phe­mer be pun­ished, not the en­tire com­mu­nity

Supreme Court (SC) has re­jected new in­quiry report car­ried out by Pun­jab Po­lice on Badami Bagh in­ci­dent.

Dur­ing the hear­ing of suo moto case of Badami Bagh in­ci­dent Chief Jus­tice of Pak­istan (CJP) Iftikhar Chaudhry re­marked "ju­di­cial in­quiry is got con­ducted only for the sake of face sav­ing. The of­fi­cer against whom ju­di­cial com­mis­sion rec­om­mended ac­tion in Go­jra in­ci­dent re­mained posted at his place.

When rec­om­men­da­tions have not to be im­ple­mented then why we should pro­vide our in­quiry of­fi­cer. Ju­di­cial of­fi­cer has to face hu­mil­i­a­tion when the rec­om­men­da­tions of ju­di­cial com­mis­sion are not im­ple­mented. The CJP gave th­ese re­marks in re­ply to the de­mand made by Ad­vo­cate Gen­eral ( AG) Pun­jab that ju­di­cial in­quiry be held into the in­ci­dent and then fac­tual sit­u­a­tion would come to light. Jus­tice Gulzar Ah­mad ob­served no one in­clud­ing po­lice is try­ing to as­cer­tain real causes which led to Joseph Colony ar­son at­tack. We go back af­ter con­duct­ing hear­ing.
