KP governor stresses to expedite uplift of sports complex
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Engineer Shaukat Ullah has asked the concerned authorities to expedite pace of efforts for development of sports facilities; promotion of games and manage sports events in FATA in a realistic and assured that every possible support will be extended in making this possible.
Talking during a briefing on development of sports facilities; prevailing state of working of the Directorate of Sports, FATA and the Future assignments in this respect, the Governor further desired that efficient arrangements needs to be made to ensure better output.
Besides, Principal Secretary to Governor, Muhammad Abid Majeed, and Secretary, Social Sector, FATA, Aftab Akbar Durrani, the office bearers and members of the FATA Olympic Association were also present on this occasion that also comprised of certain international players of various games from FATA.
Governor also took keen interest in the provision of sports kits to players of various sports and desired to make more generous contribution on this count possible.
"There is no dearth of talent in FATA and to ensure availability of professional players for image building of the area and the country at the international level, we have to work more efficiently", he pointed out.
While referring to a point, the Governor also re-iterated his commitment for developing sports complex of international standards at a suitable tribal area situated in vicinity of Peshawar.
also stressed the need to complete the under-construction sports complexes on priority basis while referring to the release of Rs.28 millions to the Directorate of Sports for promotion of games up-till now during the current financial year, the Governor also urged to arrange well planned arrangements to make the resources fully useful to the youth of FATA.
Meanwhile, the Governor who is also the President of the FATA Olympic Association also urged the need to arrange wellmanaged sports events and assured every possible support and patronage to the organization to make this possible.
The Governor also conceded to a proposal to provide regular annual grant for the organization and asked the concerned authorities to take necessary steps in this respect.
He also stressed that the Association should ensure its more efficient working as well as significant contribution in established lines and standards which are being followed by its sister institutions in rest of the country.
While appreciating the achievements of the FATA Olympic Association in promoting sports in FATA and providing better opportunities to sportsmen to demonstrate their talent and capabilities in a short span of time, the Governor further pointed out completion of ongoing development projects will further facilitate them to work more effectively.
Meanwhile, the Governor was informed that four sports complexes one each in Khyber, Bajaur, Mohmand and North Waziristan agencies are fully functional while eight more one each at Kalaya in Orakzai; Sadda in Kurram Agency; Miranshah in North Waziristan Agency; Bara in Khyber Agency; Khar in Bajaur Agency; Jani Khel in F.R. Bannu as well as Wana and Boya in South Waziristan agency at under construction.
