KP gov­er­nor stresses to ex­pe­dite up­lift of sports com­plex

The Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa Gov­er­nor, En­gi­neer Shaukat Ul­lah has asked the con­cerned au­thor­i­ties to ex­pe­dite pace of ef­forts for devel­op­ment of sports fa­cil­i­ties; pro­mo­tion of games and man­age sports events in FATA in a real­is­tic and as­sured that ev­ery pos­si­ble sup­port will be ex­tended in mak­ing this pos­si­ble.

Talk­ing dur­ing a brief­ing on devel­op­ment of sports fa­cil­i­ties; pre­vail­ing state of work­ing of the Di­rec­torate of Sports, FATA and the Fu­ture as­sign­ments in this re­spect, the Gov­er­nor fur­ther de­sired that ef­fi­cient ar­range­ments needs to be made to en­sure bet­ter out­put.

Be­sides, Prin­ci­pal Sec­re­tary to Gov­er­nor, Muham­mad Abid Ma­jeed, and Sec­re­tary, So­cial Sec­tor, FATA, Aftab Ak­bar Dur­rani, the of­fice bear­ers and mem­bers of the FATA Olympic As­so­ci­a­tion were also present on this oc­ca­sion that also com­prised of cer­tain in­ter­na­tional play­ers of var­i­ous games from FATA.

Gov­er­nor also took keen in­ter­est in the pro­vi­sion of sports kits to play­ers of var­i­ous sports and de­sired to make more gen­er­ous con­tri­bu­tion on this count pos­si­ble.

"There is no dearth of tal­ent in FATA and to en­sure avail­abil­ity of pro­fes­sional play­ers for im­age build­ing of the area and the coun­try at the in­ter­na­tional level, we have to work more ef­fi­ciently", he pointed out.

While re­fer­ring to a point, the Gov­er­nor also re-it­er­ated his com­mit­ment for de­vel­op­ing sports com­plex of in­ter­na­tional stan­dards at a suit­able tribal area sit­u­ated in vicin­ity of Pe­shawar.

Si­mul­ta­ne­ously,

he

also stressed the need to com­plete the un­der-con­struc­tion sports com­plexes on pri­or­ity ba­sis while re­fer­ring to the re­lease of Rs.28 mil­lions to the Di­rec­torate of Sports for pro­mo­tion of games up-till now dur­ing the cur­rent fi­nan­cial year, the Gov­er­nor also urged to ar­range well planned ar­range­ments to make the re­sources fully use­ful to the youth of FATA.

Mean­while, the Gov­er­nor who is also the Pres­i­dent of the FATA Olympic As­so­ci­a­tion also urged the need to ar­range well­man­aged sports events and as­sured ev­ery pos­si­ble sup­port and pa­tron­age to the or­ga­ni­za­tion to make this pos­si­ble.

The Gov­er­nor also con­ceded to a pro­posal to pro­vide reg­u­lar an­nual grant for the or­ga­ni­za­tion and asked the con­cerned au­thor­i­ties to take nec­es­sary steps in this re­spect.

He also stressed that the As­so­ci­a­tion should en­sure its more ef­fi­cient work­ing as well as sig­nif­i­cant con­tri­bu­tion in es­tab­lished lines and stan­dards which are be­ing fol­lowed by its sis­ter in­sti­tu­tions in rest of the coun­try.

While ap­pre­ci­at­ing the achieve­ments of the FATA Olympic As­so­ci­a­tion in pro­mot­ing sports in FATA and pro­vid­ing bet­ter op­por­tu­ni­ties to sports­men to demon­strate their tal­ent and ca­pa­bil­i­ties in a short span of time, the Gov­er­nor fur­ther pointed out com­ple­tion of on­go­ing devel­op­ment projects will fur­ther fa­cil­i­tate them to work more ef­fec­tively.

Mean­while, the Gov­er­nor was in­formed that four sports com­plexes one each in Khy­ber, Ba­jaur, Mohmand and North Waziris­tan agen­cies are fully func­tional while eight more one each at Kalaya in Orakzai; Sadda in Kur­ram Agency; Miranshah in North Waziris­tan Agency; Bara in Khy­ber Agency; Khar in Ba­jaur Agency; Jani Khel in F.R. Bannu as well as Wana and Boya in South Waziris­tan agency at un­der con­struc­tion.
