‘Power to be trans­ferred from one civil­ian govt to an­other’

Ch Pervez Elahi has ex­pressed great pride that for the first time in Pak­istan' his­tory power will be trans­ferred from one civil­ian govt to an­other civil­ian govt.

Talk­ing to the vis­it­ing Bri­tain High Com­mis­sioner Adam Thom­son and UK Aid Mem­ber Tom Owens, who called on PML-Q pres­i­dent Se­na­tor Ch Shu­jat Hus­sain and pres­i­dent PML Pun­jab Ch Pervez Elahi at their res­i­dence here Tues­day, Pervez Elahi also im­pressed that "we have played our role for strength­en­ing of democ­racy; be­cause of this to­day roots of democ­racy in Pak­istan are be­com­ing stronger". The Bri­tish High Com­mis­sioner said free, fair and ac­cept­able elec­toral process elec­tions be­ing held timely in Pak­istan were im­por­tant for fu­ture re­la­tions be­tween two coun­tries. He also ex­pressed Bri­tain's will­ing­ness to work with any govt to be es­tab­lished in Pak­istan af­ter the free elec­tions, say­ing that Euro­pean Union wanted to bring its ob­servers for elec­tions in Pak­istan and Bri­tain will also fully par­tic­i­pate.
