Pak­istan keen to beef up trade ties with Korea: Bokhari

Chair­man Se­nate, Nayyer Hus­sain Bukhari has said that Pak­istan is keen to en­hance in­vest­ment and trade re­la­tions with Korea un­der the vi­sion of East Asia Pol­icy (EAP). He ex­pressed th­ese views in a meet­ing with South Korean Am­bas­sador in Pak­istan, Chong-Joo Choi at the Par­lia­ment House here on Wed­nes­day.

"Our re­la­tions are ever pro­gress­ing from the very day of en­gage­ment and it is dire need of the hour to en­hance our trade co-op­er­a­tion and in­vest­ment in var­i­ous sec­tors", he added. While talk­ing on the oc­ca­sion, he said that both Pak­istan and Korea should fur­ther strengthen their en­gage­ment in eco­nomic sphere where huge po­ten­tial ex­ists.

Chair­man Se­nate re­it­er­ated that Korea could par­tic­u­larly in­vest in en­ergy sec­tor and tech­nol­ogy fields and also em­pha­sized the need to en­hance num­ber of schol­ar­ships for Pak­istani stu­dents as they can act as a bridge be­tween the two coun­tries.

He re­called that large num­ber of skilled labour from Pak­istan is work­ing in Korea and if needed more skilled labour can be sent. Talk­ing about Afghanistan, the Chair­man said that Pak­istan wishes a sta­ble and peace­ful Afghanistan be­cause the peace of Pak­istan is chained with the peace of Afghanistan, adding that Pak­istan has ren­dered im­mense sac­ri­fices against war on ter­ror be­ing a front­line state.
