Sui­cide at­tack on FC Com­man­dant kills 6, in­juries 11 per­sons

A deadly sui­cide at­tack on the con­vey of Com­man­dant Fron­tier Con­stab­u­lary (FC) on Fakhar e Alam Road in Pe­shawar can­ton­ment here Fri­day left six per­sons dead and 11 in­jured in­clud­ing Five FC per­son­nel.

Ac­cord­ing to Po­lice, a sui­cide bomber tar­geted the con­vey of Fron­tier Con­stab­u­lary that was es­cort­ing Com­man­dant FC Ab­dul Ma­jeed Mar­wat near Green Shadi Hall close to a se­cu­rity check post on busy Fakhr e Alam Road where banks, trade and com­mer­cial build­ings are lo­cated.

The ex­plo­sion oc­curred just af­ter the ve­hi­cle of the Com­man­dant passed through the area and he was nar­rowly es­caped.

As re­sult of huge blast, six per­sons in­clud­ing two women were killed on the spot and 11 oth­ers in­jured in­clud­ing five FC per­son­nel who were ad­mit­ted in Lady Read­ing Hospi­tal Pe­shawar.

Those killed in­clude, Anees Khan son of Isha Khan aged 35 res­i­dent of Mashok­a­gar Pe­shawar, Man­zoor Hus­sain son of Ghu­lam Ba­hadar aged 35 res­i­dent of Qaid­abad Kak­shal Pe­shawar, Alamzaib son of Shamsher Khan res­i­dent of Landi Arbab Pe­shawar while iden­tity of two women and a man could not be iden­ti­fied.

The in­jured iden­ti­fied are Rawais Khan, Amir son of Nisar res­i­dent of Dalazak Road Pe­shawar, Samiullah son of Rafi­ul­lah res­i­dent of Mian Gu­jar Pe­shawar, Zahir son of Sher Qadir res­i­dent of Mi­ran Shah North Waziris­tan Agency, Ar­shad (FC) res­i­dent of Hangu, Ir­fan Ab­bas son of Mir Ab­bas res­i­dent of Mathani (FC), Jan­dad son of Ibad Sher res­i­dent of Ti­l­a­band Pe­shawar (FC), Rehman Saeed son of Sub­han Gul res­i­dent of Karak (FC) and Shah Khalid son of Noor Badeen res­i­dent of Shabqadar Charsadda.

Emer­gency has been en­forced in Lady Read­ing Hospi­tal Pe­shawar. Soon af­ter the in­ci­dent, the se­cu­rity forces cor­doned off the area and started search op­er­a­tion.

It may be re­called that few me­ters away of the spot of to­day sui­cide at­tack, FC com­man­dant Si­fawat Ghay­oor was also killed in a sui­cide hit in the past.

The Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa Gov­er­nor, Engr Shaukat­ul­lah Khan here Fri­day strongly con­demned sui­cide at­tack on the con­vey of Fron­tier Con­stab­u­lary's Com­man­dant, Ab­dul Ma­jeed Mar­wat and said el­e­ments in­volved in such in­hu­man acts would not es­caped from clutches of law.

In a mes­sage here, the Gov­er­nor paid glow­ing tributes to of­fi­cers and jawans of se­cu­rity forces for per­form­ing their du­ties with great valor and courage, adding their sac­ri­fices would be re­mem­bered for long.

He thanked Al­lah Almighty for sav­ing the FC Com­man­dant in the sui­cide at­tack and paid him best wishes.

The Gov­er­nor said such coward at­tacks could not shake the re­solve and de­ter­mi­na­tion of the Government and na­tion in fight against mil­i­tancy and ter­ror­ism. He ex­pressed pro­found grief and sor­row over hu­man losses in this gory in­ci­dent, adding their heirs are not alone in this hour of grief and sor­row and the whole na­tion is with them in this hour of trial. They prayed for early re­cov­ery of the vic­tims and eter­nal peace of the de­ceased.
