Punjab Univer­sity Depart­ment of Zool­ogy PhD scholars Zil­lay Mariam Sohail and Am­ber Shams have been se­lected to at­tend the Oslo Sum­mer School 2015 af­ter in­ter­na­tional se­lec­tion com­pe­ti­tion.

The scholars have been work­ing un­der the su­per­vi­sion of Depart­ment of Zool­ogy As­sis­tant Pro­fes­sor Dr Nadeem Sheikh. Around 180 stu­dents in to­tal have been reg­is­tered so far and con­firmed for the sum­mer school. The vast ma­jor­ity of the stu­dents are from Scan­di­na­vian coun­tries and the EU coun­tries. Only a hand­ful of stu­dents are from Brazil, Canada, USA, Sin­ga­pore, South Africa, Pak­istan and China. Zil­lay and Am­ber are the only two scholar se­lected from Pak­istan this year to at­tend the sum­mer course. Chair­man Depart­ment of Zool­ogy Prof Dr Javed Iqbal Qazi lauded the scholars for be­ing se­lected for the course and wished them all the best.

Mean­while, Punjab Univer­sity Pak­istan Study Cen­tre (PSC) in col­lab­o­ra­tion with Ox­ford Univer­sity Press will or­ga­nize an event on "Why Econ­o­mists failed to Pre­dict the Cri­sis and How to Avoid the Next One" by au­thor, economist and politi­cian Lord Megh­nad De­sai, on Mon­day (to­day) at 10:30am at its Au­di­to­rium.
