CPEC will ben­e­fit the en­tire re­gion: Mam­noon

Pres­i­dent Mam­noon Hus­sain says mod­ern ed­u­ca­tion is im­per­a­tive for the de­vel­op­ment of the coun­try.

Ad­dress­ing the 39th Con­vo­ca­tion of Na­tional Univer­sity of Com­puter and Emerg­ing Sciences Is­lam­abad on Mon­day, Mam­noon Hus­sain has stressed the need for ac­quir­ing mod­ern ed­u­ca­tion as it is im­per­a­tive for the de­vel­op­ment of the coun­try.

The Pres­i­dent said ed­u­ca­tion has great im­por­tance in cre­at­ing aware­ness among the peo­ple. He urged the ed­u­ca­tional in­sti­tu­tions to har­monise the new gen­er­a­tion with the de­mands of the cur­rent era.

He said the Gov­ern­ment is mak­ing ef­forts to en­hance the al­lo­ca­tion for ed­u­ca­tion sec­tor to four per­cent of GDP within its lim­ited re­sources.

Mam­noon Hus­sain said cor­rup­tion has greatly harmed the coun­try. He said that we have to strengthen our econ­omy to achieve goal of de­vel­op­ment and to dis­cour­age cor­rup­tion. He said that we have to wage war against cor­rup­tion and to iso­late cor­rupt el­e­ments by so­cial boy­cott with them. He said the present gov­ern­ment has in­her­ited 14,800 bil­lion ru­pees debt. He said the pre­vi­ous gov­ern­ment had taken loans worth of 8,000 bil­lion ru­pees dur­ing its ten­ure but ex­e­cuted no mega pro­ject.

Re­fer­ring to Chi­naPak­istan Eco­nomic Cor­ri­dor, the Pres­i­dent said that the pro­ject will not only ben­e­fit Pak­istan but also other coun­tries of the re­gion. He said the Cor­ri­dor in­cludes a num­ber of in­fra­struc­ture and energy projects which will cre­ate great eco­nomic ac­tiv­i­ties in the coun­try. He urged the stu­dents to get them­selves ready to take ben­e­fit of these projects. The Pres­i­dent awarded medals and de­grees to the pass­ing out stu­dents in var­i­ous dis­ci­plines.
