LAHORE: President Mamnoon Hussain has called for promotion of tax payment culture to take the country forward. Addressing the sixth convocation of Virtual University in Islamabad on Wednesday, he regretted the hue and cry over 0.3 withholding tax on bank transactions. He clarified that the tax is applicable only on the non-filers of tax returns.

Referring to law and order situation, the President said operations against terrorists have improved the situation. He said those trying to fan anarchy and chaos deserve no leniency. Highlighting the significance of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, Mamnoon Hussain said any hurdle in the way of this mega project should be rejected. He said this project envisages construction of motorways and up-gradation of Gwadar deep seaport. It will revive Pakistan's economy and create hundreds of thousands of jobs.
