Ad­di­tional ses­sions judge gunned down

RAWALPINDI: Un­known men on Wed­nes­day killed an ad­di­tional dis­trict and ses­sions judge in Rawalpindi's Sadiqabad Town area.

Three un­known gun­men on a mo­tor­cy­cle opened fire on the ve­hi­cle of the judge as he was leav­ing his Judges Colony res­i­dence in Sadiqabad area of Rawalpindi. The as­sailants man­aged to es­cape from the scene af­ter the at­tack. The judge, who was iden­ti­fied as Tahir Khan Niazi, was shifted to Be­nazir Bhutto Hos­pi­tal where he suc­cumbed to his wounds dur­ing treat­ment. Hos­pi­tal sources said that the judge had died due to ex­ces­sive bleed­ing. Res­cue and se­cu­rity per­son­nel per­son­nel reached the site of at­tack. Po­lice­men cor­doned off the area as a probe into the in­ci­dent went un­der­way. Po­lice of­fi­cials are also go­ing through the CCTV footage ob­tained from Niazi's res­i­dence.
