L&T Infotech names Sanjay Jalona as CEO
MUMBAI: Larsen and Toubro Ltd ( L&T) announced the appointment of Sanjay Jalona as managing director and chief executive of its wholly-owned subsidiary L&T Infotech. The appointment comes at a time when the country's largest engineering and construction company is expected to list L&T Infotech, selling a 15% stake early next year. Jalona, who has spent a decade and a half in various leadership positions at Infosys, will lead the company in its next phase of growth, said L&T in a statement. His last assignment was as executive vice-president and global head of high-tech manufacturing and engineering at Infosys.
Mint reported last month that Jalona would join L&T Infotech as CEO after he left Infosys. L&T Infotech has been without a CEO since its joint CEOs Vivek Chopra and Mukesh Aghi quit in October 2014. Managing director V.K. Magapu has been overseeing operations. "His appointment adds thrust to L&T Infotech's plans to boost profitable growth and strengthen its presence in the Americas, Europe, Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the the Far East," said the statement. Jalona has also been inducted as a director on the board of L&T Infotech and will operate out of the company's office in Edison, New Jersey, US. "Our clients are seeking smarter and more intelligent solutions. We believe that Sanjay has the ability to solve these challenges and the experience to take L&T Infotech to the next level." said. A.M. Naik, group executive chairman, L&T.
