Hazara mo­tor­way will be 6-lane thor­ough­fare: PM

HARIPUR: Prime Min­is­ter Nawaz Sharif at­tended the pro­ject re­view cer­e­mony of the Hazara Mo­tor­way pro­ject in Chichiyan on Thurs­day, where he an­nounced that the mo­tor­way would be a 6-lane thor­ough­fare, and di­rected of­fi­cials to com­plete the pro­ject by De­cem­ber, ear­lier than the es­ti­mated com­ple­tion date in 2017.

Na­tional High­way Au­thor­ity of­fi­cials also briefed the premier about the pro­ject's progress on the oc­ca­sion. He was told that the Havalian sec­tion of Hazara mo­tor­way is be­ing con­structed at a cost of over Rs22­bil­lion. Speak­ing on the oc­ca­sion, Nawaz said the con­struc­tions of roads will bring sta­bil­ity to the re­gion and will pave way for an eco­nomic revo­lu­tion. Hazara mo­tor­way is part of the greater China Pak­istan Eco­nomic Pro­ject, which will bring eco­nomic sta­bil­ity to the re­gion, the PM added. The ground-break­ing of the sec­ond phase of the pro­ject in Mansehra will take place soon, said the premier. It is per­ti­nent to men­tion that a by-elec­tion has been sched­uled for for NA-19, Haripur, on Au­gust 16. The im­ple­men­ta­tion of energy and in­fra­struc­ture projects iden­ti­fied un­der the Chi­naPak­istan Eco­nomic Cor­ri­dor is tak­ing place on a fast-track ba­sis on both sides to trans­late the plans into re­al­ity.
