Dubai-Kaza­khstan air links to get stronger

DUBAI: Air travel be­tween Dubai, the re­gion's fi­nan­cial cap­i­tal, and the As­tana, the cap­i­tal of Cen­tral Asian coun­try Kaza­khstan will soon be a lot eas­ier with launch of eight new weekly flights from Oc­to­ber.

Kaza­khstan's na­tional air­line Air As­tana an­nounced on Mon­day it will re-launch di­rect flights be­tween the two cities from Oc­to­ber 25 this year. The air­line will op­er­ate the route with an Air­bus A320, a nar­row body sin­gle aisle air­craft, with four flights a week to Dubai In­ter­na­tional, ac­cord­ing to an emailed state­ment. Air As­tana Pres­i­dent and Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Peter Foster stated the air­line is "fully com­mit­ted to ex­pand­ing the route net­work from As­tana." Air As­tana re­cently launch ser­vices from As­tana to Paris, Seoul and to Tbil­isi in Ge­or­gia.

Ear­lier, Dubai-owned fly­dubai an­nounced in an emailed state­ment it will launch four weekly di­rect Dubai-As­tana ser­vices from Oc­to­ber 26. Fly­dubai Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Ghaith Al Ghaith stated that the launch of As­tana ser­vices "marks an im­por­tant mile­stone in our ex­pan­sion in the re­gion." Last year, Air As­tana re­sumed ser­vices be­tween Dubai and Al­maty, Kaza­khstan's old cap­i­tal.
