Sony focuses on 4K tech for security solutions

Smarter, more efficient and cost effective surveillance solutions are in demand in the Middle East, according to an industry expert. The security segment is continuously showing year-on-year growth in the Middle East region. As the segment is maturing, the customer requirements are also changing.

"As the industry evolves the end-users demand more efficiency, affordability and exceptional performance which makes 4K the new standard in a growing number of applications," Aydin Tolan, Business Head Visual Presentation Solutions Sony Professional Solutions MEA, told Khaleej Times during an interview at Intersec, which concluded on Tuesday in Dubai

It's not only important to capture footage but also essential to ensure that the video quality is good and there is adequate storage for the large amount of surveillance cap- tured by security cameras, Tolan explained. Today, storage limitations, loss of video footage due to network downtime, and low light conditions are some of the key concerns end-users have, he added.

Sony has been a front-runner in 4K technology and now the company is taking this a step further by making surveillance smarter, more efficient, and cost effective, he said.

Along with 4K imaging, Sony cameras are equipped with a unique optical image stabilization technology with gyroscope sensors that detect and correct camera shake, which often results from external factors such a variations in the weather.

Usually, when opting for higher resolution security solutions, there is a trade-off between bandwidth usage and sensitivity. Sony Professional provides tailored solutions to ensure that high quality video output is achieved without compromising planned storage and bandwidth requirements.
