PTI fails to prove votes’ trans­fer­ence in NA-122 by-elec­tion

IS­LAM­ABAD: Pak­istan Tehreek-e-In­saf (PTI) has failed to sup­port its ac­cu­sa­tions against the rul­ing party in NA-122 re­elec­tion case be­fore the elec­tion com­mis­sion. The com­mis­sion has re­jected PTI s pe­ti­tion seek­ing nul­li­fi­ca­tion of the re-elec­tion re­sults that was held in Oc­to­ber 2015. How­ever, the com­mis­sion has taken up PTI on Right to In­for­ma­tion Ar­ti­cle 19-A and sum­moned copies of elec­toral lists in the con­stituency. Chief Elec­tion Com­mis­sioner (CEC) said that NA-122 by-elec­tion re­sults could not be an­nulled un­der Peo­ple's Rep­re­sen­ta­tion Act Sec­tion 103-AA. Bo­gus af­fi­davits were sub­mit­ted in the court re­gard­ing trans­fer­ence of votes, he added. The CEC said that the com­mis­sion re­serves right to pur­sue ac­tion against false sub­mis­sions. Rul­ing party's Talal Chaudhry said that PTI lost ev­ery sin­gle elec­tion in­clud­ing lo­cal govern­ment (LG) elec­tions against Pak­istan Mus­lim League-e-Nawaz (PML-N).
