3G, 4G sub­scribers reach 23.65m

IS­LAM­ABAD: The num­ber of 3G and 4G sub­scribers in the coun­try have reached 23.65 mil­lion by De­cem­ber, 2015 as com­pared to 21.68 mil­lion by Novem­ber 2015, show­ing a rea­son­able growth in mod­ern mo­bile broad­band ser­vices with each pass­ing month. The oper­a­tors, pro­vid­ing mo­bile broad­band ser­vices, have col­lec­tively added around two mil­lion users dur­ing one month. As per re­cently is­sued Tele­com In­di­ca­tors by Pak­istan Telecom­mu­ni­ca­tion Au­thor­i­ties (PTA), among the mo­bile phone com­pa­nies, Mo­bilink stood first with 7.24 mil­lion 3G sub­scribers till De­cem­ber 2015, China Mo­bile ( Zong) 4.75 mil­lion 3G users and 0.282 mil­lion 4G users, Te­lenor with 6.37 mil­lion users, Ufone 4.3 mil­lion users and Warid pos­sessed 0.214 mil­lion 4G LTE sub­scribers base. Ex­perts of tele­com in­dus­try were hav­ing a view­point that por­ta­ble mo­bile broad­band devices like MiFi and Win­gles are one of the main rea­sons of this growth in 3G/ 4G sub­scribers and many more will fol­low this trend in up­com­ing days. Mean­while, af­ter suc­cess­ful launch of 4G LTE ser­vices in 30 ma­jor cities, Warid has an­nounced avail­abil­ity of its 4G LTE net­work in Hafizabad, Jhelum, Mansehra & Hub to take to­tal toll of 4G LTE en­abled cities to 34.
