ISLAMABAD: The government has no plan to sack even a single employee of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) but will continue to look for strategic partner for the national flag carrier, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar told Khaleej Times. "Although there are many in-stances in the world, yet it's always very difficult and painful to send people home or make them redundant," Dar explained. "Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has no such preference in his mind to sack PIA employees," the minister replied to this scribe when asked if the government is considering to introduce any golden handshake scheme in the government-owned airline. "We are trying to bring strategic partner in due course for a transparent process," the minister said, adding that the government wants to expand PIA business so that people are absorbed in the business. The minister emphasised that the government wants to bring improvement in PIA through reforms and strategic partners. He said, "Whether it's strategic partner or not we have to move forward and improve PIA's position. Its financial losses have to come down, efficiency and service delivery have to be better. Billions of rupees losses have to be contained and we are working towards that end.
