Pak-Qatar Takaful launch academic programmes
Pak-Qatar Family Takaful Limited (PQFTL) has taken yet another remarkable initiative for promoting Takaful, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a leading educational institution of Pakistan - the Institute of Management Sciences, (IMS) Peshawar, to launch training and awareness programmes on Takaful. The MOU would go a long way in producing specialists on Islamic finance in the country and also create a resourceful hub for Research and Development in the field of Islamic Economics and Finance.
The MOU was signed during a two-day International Conference organized by the 'Centre for Excellence in Islamic Finance (CEIF). The forum titled; "Towards Financial Inclusion: Developments in Islamic Economics, Banking and Finance" was held in Peshawar recently. The conference is designed to bring international and national researchers onto a vibrant dialogue platform.
This MOU has established an unprecedented strategic partnership between PQFTL and IMS to conduct collaborative activities, including; training sessions, certifications, diploma programmes and degree programmes on 'Takaful' - The shariah-compliant model for insurance. The initiative will also include awareness seminars and conferences on Takaful, at different forums like; Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Trade Associations, Academic institutions, Universities and Madrassas, etc. The CEIF has also initiated academic programmes such as PhD - Islamic Business & Finance, MBA in Islamic Banking and Takaful, and other training programmes in Islamic Finance.

A business expo was also held as part of the conference, in which institutions related to Islamic Finance were invited to participate. It was an excellent opportunity to showcase and market the products to a very relevant and highprofiled audience.
The CEIF has been creating links with banks and Takaful companies to promote Islamic Finance. In its efforts, the Centre is building capacity of banking staff and Takaful companies, in collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan, through amalgamation of academic programmes and latest research for the industry. The CEIF is amongst the three Centres of Islamic Finance in the country and the first in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Centre was established in August 2015 by the IMS, Peshawar.
