Pak-Qatar Taka­ful launch aca­demic pro­grammes

Pak-Qatar Fam­ily Taka­ful Lim­ited (PQFTL) has taken yet an­other re­mark­able ini­tia­tive for pro­mot­ing Taka­ful, by sign­ing a Mem­o­ran­dum of Un­der­stand­ing (MOU) with a lead­ing ed­u­ca­tional in­sti­tu­tion of Pak­istan - the In­sti­tute of Man­age­ment Sci­ences, (IMS) Pe­shawar, to launch train­ing and aware­ness pro­grammes on Taka­ful. The MOU would go a long way in pro­duc­ing spe­cial­ists on Is­lamic fi­nance in the coun­try and also cre­ate a re­source­ful hub for Re­search and De­vel­op­ment in the field of Is­lamic Eco­nom­ics and Fi­nance.

The MOU was signed dur­ing a two-day In­ter­na­tional Con­fer­ence or­ga­nized by the 'Cen­tre for Ex­cel­lence in Is­lamic Fi­nance (CEIF). The fo­rum ti­tled; "To­wards Fi­nan­cial In­clu­sion: De­vel­op­ments in Is­lamic Eco­nom­ics, Bank­ing and Fi­nance" was held in Pe­shawar re­cently. The con­fer­ence is de­signed to bring in­ter­na­tional and na­tional re­searchers onto a vi­brant di­a­logue plat­form.

This MOU has es­tab­lished an un­prece­dented strate­gic part­ner­ship be­tween PQFTL and IMS to con­duct col­lab­o­ra­tive ac­tiv­i­ties, in­clud­ing; train­ing ses­sions, cer­ti­fi­ca­tions, diploma pro­grammes and de­gree pro­grammes on 'Taka­ful' - The shariah-com­pli­ant model for in­sur­ance. The ini­tia­tive will also in­clude aware­ness sem­i­nars and con­fer­ences on Taka­ful, at dif­fer­ent fo­rums like; Cham­bers of Com­merce & In­dus­try, Trade As­so­ci­a­tions, Aca­demic in­sti­tu­tions, Univer­si­ties and Madras­sas, etc. The CEIF has also ini­ti­ated aca­demic pro­grammes such as PhD - Is­lamic Busi­ness & Fi­nance, MBA in Is­lamic Bank­ing and Taka­ful, and other train­ing pro­grammes in Is­lamic Fi­nance.

The Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer of PQFTL - Mr. Nasir Ali Syed stated that: "Soon af­ter be­ing of­fi­cially rec­og­nized as the ' The Best Taka­ful Com­pany in Pak­istan', PQFTL is proud to launch th­ese in­sight­ful aca­demic pro­grammes in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the IMS Pe­shawar. Be­ing the flag-bearer of Taka­ful in Pak­istan since 2007 - PQFTL of­fers un­matched ex­per­tise in; in­di­vid­ual, groups and banca Taka­ful ser­vices. Its award-win­ning prod­ucts are highly com­pet­i­tive, more re­ward­ing and flex­i­ble.

The Head of Mar­ket­ing & Cor­po­rate Com­mu­ni­ca­tions at PQFTL, Mr. Nameer Khan com­mented that, "This is just the be­gin­ning and there is a lot more to come in terms of In­no­vat­ing Taka­ful. The Mar­ket­ing & Cor­po­rate Com­mu­ni­ca­tions depart­ment of PakQatar Fam­ily Taka­ful Ltd. in­tends to take gi­gan­tic strides to­wards the de­vel­op­ment of Taka­ful, not only at lo­cal level but at global lev­els too. Pak-Qatar Taka­ful Group aims at trans­form­ing the in­dus­try through in­no­va­tions in Taka­ful, with ac­tiv­i­ties at mass level and cre­at­ing aware­ness among the youth of Pak­istan."

A busi­ness expo was also held as part of the con­fer­ence, in which in­sti­tu­tions re­lated to Is­lamic Fi­nance were in­vited to par­tic­i­pate. It was an ex­cel­lent op­por­tu­nity to show­case and mar­ket the prod­ucts to a very rel­e­vant and high­pro­filed au­di­ence.

The CEIF has been cre­at­ing links with banks and Taka­ful com­pa­nies to pro­mote Is­lamic Fi­nance. In its ef­forts, the Cen­tre is build­ing ca­pac­ity of bank­ing staff and Taka­ful com­pa­nies, in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the State Bank of Pak­istan, through amal­ga­ma­tion of aca­demic pro­grammes and lat­est re­search for the in­dus­try. The CEIF is amongst the three Cen­tres of Is­lamic Fi­nance in the coun­try and the first in the Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa. The Cen­tre was es­tab­lished in Au­gust 2015 by the IMS, Pe­shawar.
