More fam­i­lies to be reg­is­tered un­der BISP in 2016: Marvi

Min­is­ter of State and Chair­per­son Be­nazir In­come Sup­port Pro­gramme (BISP), Marvi Me­mon on Fri­day said a new sur­vey to be con­ducted this year to reg­is­ter more des­ti­tute fam­i­lies un­der BISP. Ad­dress­ing a gath­er­ing of women and no­table of the area at Re­gional Of­fice of BISP here, she said a sur­vey was con­ducted five years back un­der BISP and reg­is­tered many poor fam­i­lies, but sev­eral oth­ers could not get them­selves reg­is­tered.

She said a fresh sur­vey would be con­ducted this year to as­cer­tain ex­act num­ber of reg­is­tered fam­i­lies be­sides pro­vid­ing left­over poor fam­i­lies to get them­selves reg­is­tered with BISP, adding the sur­vey would be com­pleted in two years. She ad­vised left­over poor fam­i­lies get their names reg­is­tered in the new sur­vey to get fi­nan­cial ben­e­fit of the govern­ment's scheme. Marvi said the monthly stipend for de­serv­ing reg­is­tered women has also in­creased from Rs.1500 to Rs 1700 per month un­der the di­rec­tives of Prime Min­is­ter from July 2015, adding the ar­rears of the in­creased amount would be paid to be ben­e­fi­cia­ries in March 2016.

The Chair­per­son of BISP fur­ther said that hun­dreds of thou­sands of chil­dren of BISP's card bearer fe­males are get­ting education on the govern­ment's ex­penses. Marvi said the Fed­eral Govern­ment is com­mit­ted to im­prov­ing the so­cio-eco­nomic con­di­tions of poor seg­ment of the so­ci­ety by giv­ing them the needed fi­nan­cial as­sis­tance un­der this wel­fare ori­ented pro­gram at their doorsteps.
