More families to be registered under BISP in 2016: Marvi
Minister of State and Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Marvi Memon on Friday said a new survey to be conducted this year to register more destitute families under BISP. Addressing a gathering of women and notable of the area at Regional Office of BISP here, she said a survey was conducted five years back under BISP and registered many poor families, but several others could not get themselves registered.
She said a fresh survey would be conducted this year to ascertain exact number of registered families besides providing leftover poor families to get themselves registered with BISP, adding the survey would be completed in two years. She advised leftover poor families get their names registered in the new survey to get financial benefit of the government's scheme. Marvi said the monthly stipend for deserving registered women has also increased from Rs.1500 to Rs 1700 per month under the directives of Prime Minister from July 2015, adding the arrears of the increased amount would be paid to be beneficiaries in March 2016.
The Chairperson of BISP further said that hundreds of thousands of children of BISP's card bearer females are getting education on the government's expenses. Marvi said the Federal Government is committed to improving the socio-economic conditions of poor segment of the society by giving them the needed financial assistance under this welfare oriented program at their doorsteps.
