Pak­istan shows readi­ness in re­build­ing Iraq

Pak­istan on Mon­day ex­pressed readi­ness to as­sist war-torn Iraq in her strides to­wards re­con­struc­tion and re­build­ing of the coun­try.

"Pak­istan is will­ing to pro­vide all pos­si­ble as­sis­tance for re­con­struc­tion in Iraq," this un­der­stand­ing was ex­pressed dur­ing a con­sul­ta­tion of Am­bas­sador of the Re­pub­lic of Iraq Dr. Ali Yassin Mo­ham­mad Karim with Min­is­ter of De­fence Pro­duc­tion (MoDP) Rana Tan­veer Hus­sain.

"Pak­istan and Iraq have been co­op­er­at­ing in the field of de­fence, mainly en­com­pass­ing ex­change of de­fence del­e­ga­tions. Pak­istan sup­ports the sovereignty, in­de­pen­dence and ter­ri­to­rial in­tegrity of Iraq", Rana Tan­veer said. Rana ex­press­ing hope said this meet­ing will fur­ther en­hance bi­lat­eral de­fence re­la­tions. Pak­istan is very much will­ing to pro­vide skilled and semi- skilled man­power to Iraq, he said.

Dr. Ali Yassin Mo­ham­mad Karim high­lighted the need for hav­ing joint ven­tures in dif­fer­ent sec­tors. He made spe­cial men­tion that Pak­istan and Iraq are fac­ing ter­ror­ism as com­mon en­emy. Pak­istan and Iraq, broth­erly Mus­lim coun­ties, have tra­di­tion­ally en­joyed cor­dial re­la­tions.
