In­ter­est-free loans un­der BISP be­ing con­sid­ered: Marvi

Fed­eral Min­is­ter of State and Chair­per­son Be­nazir In­come Sup­port Pro­gram (BISP) Marvi Me­mon on Wed­nes­day said that a pro­posal was be­ing con­sid­ered to pro­vide in­ter­est-free loans to marginal­ized women un­der Waseela-eRoz­gar Pro­gramme.

Ad­dress­ing an event held here in con­nec­tion with Waseela-e-Taleem and Waseela-e-Roz­gar pro­grammes of BISP, she said that as many as one mil­lion chil­dren in­clud­ing 80,000 of Charsadda were ben­e­fit­ting and get­ting free of cost education un­der Waseela-e-Taleem Pro­gramme in 32 dis­tricts of the coun­try.

She said that some 22,000 chil­dren from across Pak­istan in­clud­ing 5,000 from Charsadda district of KP com­pleted their pri­mary education un­der the pro­gramme, adding that the pro­gramme was be­ing run suc­cess­fully. Marvi said that in the next phase the govern­ment was con­sid­er­ing to pro­vide in­ter­est-free loans to marginal­ized fe­males un­der Waseela-eRoz­gar pro­gramme for set­ting up of hand­i­craft cen­tres.

She said that the pro­gramme aimed at fa­cil­i­tat­ing so­cio- eco­nomic up­lift of BISP ben­e­fi­cia­ries through im­part­ing vo­ca­tional and tech­ni­cal skills en­abling fe­males to move out of gen­er­a­tional poverty. She said that the pro­gramme would pro­mote sus­tain­able poverty re­duc­tion by ex­plor­ing na­tional and over­seas em­ploy­ment po­ten­tial.

Marvi ex­pressed hap­pi­ness that the ed­u­ca­tional ac­tiv­i­ties have re­sumed in Bacha Khan Univer­sity af­ter the ter­ror­ists' at­tack, adding that women of Chard­sadda district are very brave and com­mit­ted to get higher education. She said war on ter­ror was be­ing fought by en­tire na­tion and political point scor­ing on any ter­ror­ist in­ci­dent must not be done. On the oc­ca­sion en­quired af­ter in­jured of ter­ror­ists' at­tack on Bacha Khan Univer­sity in Charsadda and prayed for their early re­cov­ery.

Mean­while she saw and ap­pre­ci­ated pieces of hand­i­craft made by the lo­cal fe­males and asked the skilled women to sub­mit their mas­ter­pieces at of­fice of BISP so that they could be in­tro­duced at na­tional and in­ter­na­tional lev­els and made a source of in­come for them. On the oc­ca­sion she an­nounced to in­tro­duce Charsadda 'Gurr; sweets, rice and other prod­ucts in na­tional and in­ter­na­tional mar­kets. She said a pros­per­ous and peace­ful Pak­istan was the vi­sion of Prime Min­is­ter Muham­mad Nawaz Sharif and that he was com­mit­ted to de­liver it.
