Billions of rupees will be spent on Saaf Pani project: CM Punjab
Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that implementation of Saaf Pani Project has been started in south Punjab and billions of rupees will be spent on this project during next two and a half years. He said that rural population of more than four crore will benefit from this project.
He said that billions of rupees were misappropriated during dictatorial era in the name of supply of drinking water and installation of water filtration plants whereas Saaf Pani Project will be an example of quality and transparency like other projects of Punjab government.
The Chief Minister expressed these views while addressing a meeting at Civil Secretariat through video link, which reviewed progress on Saaf Pani Project. The Chief Minister said that availability of potable water is the basic right of every citizen. He said that supply of potable water is an important step in the provision of healthy facilities to the citizens and it will also help control the diseases spread by unhygienic water.
He said that Saaf Pani Project is of vital importance, therefore, work should be carried out on the project in a professional manner. He said that a high standard will be maintained while the project will be implemented with transparency like other projects of Punjab government. Provincial Housing Minister Tanvir Aslam Malik, Chairman Punjab Saaf Pani Company, Muhammad Kashif Padhiar, MPA, Engineer Qamar-ul-Islam, MPA, Chairman Planning & Development, Chief Executive Officer Saaf Pani Company and concerned officials attend- ed the meeting at Civil Secretariat.
Moreover, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting which reviewed various matters regarding Greater Iqbal Project. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Pakistan was achieved after supreme sacrifices under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam. He said that Pakistan Movement is unprecedented in the history of the world. He said that it is a national responsibility to apprise the young generation of the sacrifices of the national heroes during struggle for independence and Greater Iqbal Project is of vital importance in this regard. He said that this Greater Iqbal Project is the first and a unique project of Asia with regard to history. Shehbaz Sharif said that under this project, a history museum will also be set up.
