UAE ports are among world’s most ad­vanced

DUBAI: The UAE's ports are among the world's largest in terms of ad­vanced equip­ment, ca­pa­bil­i­ties, ship­ping and un­load­ing, Dr Ab­dul­lah bin Mo­hammed Bel­haif Al Nuaimi, UAE Min­is­ter of In­fra­struc­ture De­vel­op­ment and Chair­man of the Fed­eral Trans­port Au­thor­ity - Land and Mar­itime, said. He added that the UAE has been ranked first at the Arab level and 10th glob­ally for sev­eral years in a row in the field of cross-bor­der trade, thanks to the lead­er­ship's sup­port to the mar­itime and land trans­porta­tion sec­tor. Dr Al Nuaimi stressed the au­thor­ity's de­sire to unify vi­sions in this vi­tal sec­tor in terms of plan­ning, co­or­di­na­tion and leg­is­la­tion to achieve var­i­ous am­bi­tions at the lo­cal, re­gional and in­ter­na­tional lev­els. He praised the new cab­i­net reshuf­fle or­dered by The Pres­i­dent, His High­ness Shaikh Khal­ifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and an­nounced by His High­ness Shaikh Mo­hammed bin Rashid Al Mak­toum, Vice-Pres­i­dent and Prime Min­is­ter of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Dr Al Nuaimi said: "This is a paradigm shift for those in­volved in or­gan­i­sa­tional struc­tures and in­sti­tu­tional stake­hold­ers. There is no way to cross over to the fu­ture us­ing the tools of the past be­cause sig­nif­i­cant de­vel­op­men­tal achieve­ments can­not be at­tained with­out in­no­va­tive ideas and new blood." The min­is­ter said the mar­itime trans­port sec­tor in the UAE is wit­ness­ing re­mark­able growth in the ar­eas of ports, op­er­a­tion and main­te­nance, ship­build­ing, dry­docks, fi­nance and in­sur­ance in ac­cor­dance with in­ter­na­tional stan­dards on safety and pro­tec­tion of the marine en­vi­ron­ment and its se­cu­rity.
