An attempt to change education system

Project Brief: As an educationist have been working with diligence and determination for past seventeen years with enthusiastic professionalism making a mark on the rejuvenated minds. Believing in philosophy of Human Rights and Responsible Global Citizenship, have been able to promote culture of Sustainable Development through team work and qualitative productivity using latest techniques and strategies as a trainer.

As a social activist worked for the issues related to marginalized segments of society, human rights, disability rights and peace education. A proactive individual with a logical approach eager to obtain challenging positions to work for betterment and progression in development and education sectors.

Pennywort School System is an effort to bring an innovative change in the field of education by offering a unique curriculum unified with various educational philosophies to provide such programs that reflect a constructivist approach based on principles of respect, responsibility & relationship. PSS views children as an active constructor of knowledge, full of potential and possibilities. Therefore PSS is a happy school which understands the rich inter-relationship between the curriculum, feelings, relationship and sustainability and hence promotes a clear set of values such as Excellence, Diversity, Community & Heritage.

Casa Dei Felicita is the name of PSS 1st Campus which means "house of Happiness." It is an advanced and constructive approach to early childhood education which values the child as strong, capable, and confident individual. It offers "A Happy Family Solution" to the working families by enhancing quality of relationships which a child experiences during the first 10 years of life by enabling parents as productive members of a cooperative educational team.

There are two streams to this project. In daycare we enroll 3 months olds to 10 years. In regular school from we have Early Years i.e. 2.5 years to Grade 6th (11 years).

We have introduced "Reggio Emilia Philosophy of Education" with its full environment for the 1st time in Pakistan. PSS has not duplicated this philosophy which originated in Northern Italy because the children, families and teachers here in Pakistan offer a different culture, location and perspective.

But PSS believes that Reggio Emilia approach is the solicitation of multiple points of view regard- ing children's needs, interests, and abilities, and the concurrent faith in parents, teachers, and children to contribute in meaningful ways to the determination of school experiences. The Reggio Emilia approach to teaching young children puts the natural development of children as well as the close relationships that they share with their environment at the center of its philosophy. Therefore, in our unique curriculum Reggio Emilia Approach has a special place to promote a hundred, thousand languages of a child, giving children a vehicle for expression and development.

We have Incorporated Islamic Values, Quran & Tajweed Education, Iqbaliyat, Sufism in the mainstream curriculum with the international core values for promoting cultural heritage.

"Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)" is a concept proposed by UNESCO with a vision of a monumental task of assuming responsibility for actions and commitment to create positive social and environmental change.

In order to ensure a sustainable future for our children, PSS also collaborates in this vision to generate opportunities from quality education for our children to benefit and learn the values, behav- iour and lifestyles required for a sustainable future and for positive societal transformation incorporating educational activities based on human rights, gender equality, cultural diversity, international understanding, peace and many more. Apparatus with Blocks, Bricks, Lego & Toys Puzzles Reading & Story Telling Free Quality Play IT Programs Arts and Crafts Little Chefs Activity Dramatic play/pretend PATHS ((Promoting Alternative Thinking Skills) Program Child & Parental Counseling Health & Fitness Facilitation Program Definitely we would like to expand. We have initiated this project to facilitate the working and middle class families of our society. We don't intend to fill up the campus with a large number of students where our quality suffers. But steadily we would be growing our grades taking them up to Matric & O/A Levels and may be later to bring in IB System of education at affordable rates.
