KP artists hail es­tab­lish­ment of en­dow­ment funds

Artists com­mu­nity of Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa Mon­day hailed pro­vin­cial govern­ment's ini­tia­tive of en­dow­ment fund of Rs500 mil­lion for artists and termed it a step for­ward for wel­fare of artists. Ad­dress­ing a joint press con­fer­ence here at Pe­shawar Press Club, fa­mous artists Is­mail Shahid, Jamil Babar, Tariq Ja­mal, Nazir Gul Us­tad, Waseema Khan and oth­ers ac­knowl­edg­ing the ef­forts of KP govern­ment in pro­mo­tion of cul­ture and tra­di­tions said that the pro­vin­cial govern­ment is tak­ing mea­sures for fi­nan­cial sup­port of the artists.

They ap­pre­ci­ated the step of en­dow­ment fund to the tune of Rs500 mil­lion for the wel­fare of the lo­cal artists, po­ets and writ­ers. They said that Sec­re­tary Cul­ture depart­ment Azam Khan de­served great ap­pre­ci­a­tion for his hard work to ame­lio­rate the liv­ing stan­dard of poor artists be­sides tak­ing steps to ex­hibit their tal­ent.

They said pay­ment of Rs. 30,000 stipend to the artists for next eight months is a good step of KP govern­ment adding that they would take up the is­sue of those who were skipped from the en­dow­ment fund with the pro­vin­cial govern­ment.
