KP artists hail establishment of endowment funds
Artists community of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Monday hailed provincial government's initiative of endowment fund of Rs500 million for artists and termed it a step forward for welfare of artists. Addressing a joint press conference here at Peshawar Press Club, famous artists Ismail Shahid, Jamil Babar, Tariq Jamal, Nazir Gul Ustad, Waseema Khan and others acknowledging the efforts of KP government in promotion of culture and traditions said that the provincial government is taking measures for financial support of the artists.
They appreciated the step of endowment fund to the tune of Rs500 million for the welfare of the local artists, poets and writers. They said that Secretary Culture department Azam Khan deserved great appreciation for his hard work to ameliorate the living standard of poor artists besides taking steps to exhibit their talent.
They said payment of Rs. 30,000 stipend to the artists for next eight months is a good step of KP government adding that they would take up the issue of those who were skipped from the endowment fund with the provincial government.
