Govt be­lieves in strength­en­ing of armed forces: PM

IS­LAM­ABAD: Prime Min­is­ter Nawaz Sharif on Thurs­day said the gov­ern­ment firmly be­lieved in strength­en­ing the armed forces to wipe-out ter­ror­ism from the coun­try and to con­front ex­ter­nal threats and chal­lenges. He was talk­ing to Air Chief Mar­shal So­hail Aman, Chief of Air Staff who called on him here at the PM House. The mat­ters per­tain­ing to Pak­istan Air Force were dis­cussed dur­ing the meet­ing. Ap­pre­ci­at­ing the role of Pak­istan Air Force, Prime Min­is­ter Muham­mad Nawaz Sharif said con­tri­bu­tions of Pak­istan Air Force in the on­go­ing mil­i­tary of­fen­sive op­er­a­tion Zar-e-Azb were com­mend­able. He said the cru­cial role of Pak­istan Air Force in the coun­try's big­gest mil­i­tary of­fen­sive against ter­ror­ism was de­ci­sive in de­feat­ing the ter­ror­ists. He said it was only pos­si­ble due to the high­est pro­fes­sional stan­dards main­tained by the Pak­istan Air Force. The Chief of Air Staff ap­prised the Prime Min­is­ter on the pro­fes­sional pre­pared­ness and other re­lated is­sues.
