Or­ange Line Metro Train is an un­prece­dented pro­ject: CM

Pun­jab Chief Min­is­ter Muham­mad She­hbaz Sharif has said that La­hore Or­ange Line Metro Train is a unique and un­prece­dented pro­ject in the his­tory of the coun­try and its com­ple­tion will re­sult in avail­abil­ity of re­spectable trans­port fa­cil­i­ties of in­ter­na­tional stan­dard to lakhs of cit­i­zens. He said that the el­e­ments crit­i­ciz­ing this pro­ject un­jus­ti­fi­ably are in fact op­pos­ing fa­cil­i­ties to the masses.

He said that those crit­i­ciz­ing pub­lic wel­fare projects are en­e­mies of de­vel­op­ment and pros­per­ity of the cit­i­zens and they do not want elim­i­na­tion of de­pri­va­tions of the poor peo­ple.

He said that crit­i­cism against metro bus sys­tem had ended with the suc­cess of the pro­ject and the same will hap­pen with the com­ple­tion of La­hore Or­ange Line Metro Train pro­ject. He said that those op­pos­ing pub­lic wel­fare pro­ject are not in­ter­ested in the progress of the coun­try and pros­per­ity of the masses. He said that govern­ment will con­tinue the process of pub­lic ser­vice and new records in this re­gard will be set un­der the lead­er­ship of Prime Min­is­ter Nawaz Sharif.

He was talk­ing to a del­e­ga­tion of Pak­istan Mus­lim League-N, here Sun­day. The Chief Min­is­ter said that funds are a trust of the na­tion and will be con­tinue to be uti­lized on the pro­vi­sion of nec­es­sary fa­cil­i­ties to the cit­i­zens. He said that metro bus sys­tem and La­hore Or­ange Line Metro Train projects are splen­did ex­am­ple of uti­liza­tion of na­tional re­sources on the peo­ple. He said that metro bus pro­ject has been very suc­cess­ful and it is proved by the fact that lakhs of peo­ple travel by th­ese buses daily.

He said that mod­ern metro bus sys­tem has fa­cil­i­tated lakhs of peo­ple in reach­ing their desti­na­tion. He said that Or­ange Line Metro Train is an­other splen­did gift of Pun­jab govern­ment for the masses. She­hbaz Sharif said that mod­ern means of travel are a ba­sic ne­ces­sity and com­mu­ni­ca­tion sys­tem is be­ing im­proved on pri­or­ity ba­sis in the prov­ince. He said that govern­ment is im­ple­ment­ing the agenda of pro­vi­sion of mod­ern, safe, and eco­nom­i­cal trans­port fa­cil­i­ties to the masses. She­hbaz Sharif said that due to un­wise and poor poli­cies of the rulers of the prov­ince dur­ing dic­ta­to­rial era, the coun­try con­tin­ued to plunge in a quag­mire of prob­lems but they in­stead of pay­ing at­ten­tion to re­solv­ing is­sues, in­dulged in loot and cor­rup­tion.

He said that no de­vel­op­ment pro­ject was com­pleted in the pe­riod of dic­ta­tor­ship and the for­mer rulers made grave­yards of cor­rup­tion in the name of de­vel­op­ment projects which how­ever, PML-N govern­ment turned into mon­u­ments to progress. He said that en­ergy projects as well as other mega projects are be­ing com­pleted ex­pe­di­tiously un­der the lead­er­ship of Prime Min­is­ter Nawaz Sharif. He said that poverty, ig­no­rance and un­em­ploy­ment will be elim­i­nated from the coun­try and it will be made an Is­lamic wel­fare state in the real sense. Mean­while, Aus­tralian High Com­mis­sioner in Pak­istan Mar­garet Anne Adam­son met with the Pun­jab Chief Min­is­ter Muham­mad Shah­baz Sharif in La­hore on Sun­day.
