Tai­wan cen­tral bank de­picts bleak econ­omy in 2016

Tai­wan's cen­tral bank said it will be dif­fi­cult for the tradere­liant is­land to grow sig­nif­i­cantly this year due to "down­side" risks to global eco­nomic growth.

The is­land's in­fla­tion out­look is mild and the cen­tral bank will main­tain "ap­pro­pri­ate" mon­e­tary pol­icy aimed at stim­u­lat­ing growth and sta­bi­liz­ing prices and the fi­nan­cial sys­tem, ac­cord­ing to a re­port, on Tues­day, that the cen­tral bank pre­pared for par­lia­ment.

Gov­er­nor Perng Fai-nan of the cen­tral bank is due to an­swer law­mak­ers' ques­tions in a par­lia­men­tary ses­sion on Thurs­day. The cen­tral bank's next quar­terly meet­ing is March 24.
