In­dia re­leased around 329 Pak­ista­nis in last three years: Sar­taj Aziz

IS­LAM­ABAD: Ad­vi­sor to Prime Min­is­ter (PM) on Na­tional Se­cu­rity and For­eign Affairs Sar­taj Aziz has said that In­dia re­leased 329 Pak­istani na­tion­als in the last three years. In a writ­ten re­ply filed in the Se­nate by For­eign Min­istry it is stated that the neigh­bour­ing coun­tries had agreed re­cently to re­lease fish­er­men sooner than be­fore.

Ac­cord­ing to the min­istry, Pak­istani pris­on­ers in In­dia now have ac­cess to con­suls in re­spect of the agree­ment signed by Pak­istan and In­dia in March 2015. At least 460 Pak­istani cit­i­zens in to­tal are im­pris­oned in In­dia which in­clude 113 fish­er­men and 347 oth­ers. Dif­fer­ent cases have been reg­is­tered against them in­clud­ing drugs smug­gling, spy­ing, il­le­gal mi­gra­tion and ter­ror­ism. The re­port states that In­dia re­leased 67 Pak­ista­nis in 2013, 99 in 2014 while 100 in 2015. Four Pak­istani pris­on­ers have been re­leased un­til March 2016 by In­dia.
