For­mal in­au­gu­ra­tion of "Safe city Is­lam­abad pro­ject" next month: Nisar

IS­LAM­ABAD: Min­is­ter for In­te­rior and Nar­cotics Con­trol Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Thurs­day in­formed the Na­tional As­sem­bly that for­mal in­au­gu­ra­tion of 124 mil­lion dol­lar, "Safe city Is­lam­abad pro­ject "would be held next month. Re­ply­ing to a ques­tion, he said that Safe City pro­ject was ne­go­ti­ated and signed in 2009 at a to­tal cost of US $ 124,975 mil­lion. He said that so far to­tal of Rs 9.53 bil­lion as cost of pro­ject and Rs 4 Bil­lion on ac­count of du­ties and taxes have been ex­pended. He said that its im­ple­men­ta­tion was with­held due to a de­ci­sion of the Supreme Court and on con­clu­sion of lit­i­ga­tion, the pro­ject was reini­ti­ated in 2014 with­out any cost es­ca­la­tion. He said that present govern­ment had ne­go­ti­ated a sub­stan­tial in­crease in scope of the pro­ject with­out adding to pro­ject cost.
