Iran's President Rouhani due today
President of Iran Hassan Rouhani will visit Pakistan Friday (today) on a two day official visit, at the invitation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
According to local media reports, Foreign Office (FO) said in a release that the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran will visit Pakistan from 25-26 March 2016. The visit to Pakistan will be the first by Rouhani's as the President of Iran. The Iranian President will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Ministers, senior officials and businessmen. The leadership will have an exchange of views on strengthening bilateral relations, after the lifting of sanctions on Iran following its nuclear deal with the West "has opened new avenues for enhancing economic interaction," the FO said. Rouhani would also discuss cooperation on regional and international issues during his visit on Friday and Saturday, the ministry added. PM Nawaz Sharif said on Monday that Pakistan valued its ties with Iran and considers the country a close friend and neighbour. "The visit (by Hassan Rouhani) would be a great opportunity for us to review the whole range of bilateral relations and further strengthen the brotherly ties," he added.
