CDA to construct five multi-storey parking plazas
Capital Development Authority (CDA) would construct five multi level parking plazas at busiest points of the city to help overcoming parking woes and easing traffic pressure in
the city. The parking plazas would be constructed in Blue Area and other busiest areas of the city. CDA had allocated a sum of Rs 256.057 million for constructing parking plazas during financial years 201415 and 2015-16. According to breakup, Rs 169.922 million had been allocated for constructing parking plazas during 2014-15 and Rs 86.135 million for completing the task during 2015-16.
The planning and development department Capital Development Authority (CDA) has almost finalised the plan for constructing five Parking Plazas in various areas of the city. Parking plazas are imperative not only to overcome the parking problems but also to counter increasing carlifting incidents in the federal capital. Traffic problems and car thefts can be overcome to a great extent by constructing proper multi level car parking plazas. Parking plazas would be constructed near G-6, Parade Ground in south of Metro Station, F-7 Stock Exchange south of metro station, F-7 north of Seventh Avenue, F-8, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital and F-8, Ketchery Crossing.Plazas would help easing traffic congestion. Shortage of parking space in Blue Area and other major markets of the
city including Aabpara, Super, Jinnah Super and Karachi Company has not only aggravated traffic woes but also increased car-lifting incidents in the federal capital, police and CDA officials told APP that
food courts would also be constructed near these plazas, according to CDA, survey had also been completed for pin pointing suitable places for constructing parking plazas. It merits mentioning here that CDA has already constructed two multi level Public Car Parking in Jinnah Super Market (F-7 Markaz) with the capacity to park 440 vehicles.
