Three 'terrorists' killed in Karachi police encounter
KARACHI: At least three terrorists were killed during a police encounter in Karachi's Gulshan-e-Bunair area on Sunday.
One of the killed was identified as Muhammad Riaz, said to be a member of the group, al Qaeda in the Subcontinent (AQIS). The terrorists were wanted in many cases and belonged to a banned outfit, said SSP Rao Anwar. "A huge cache of explosives, suicide jackets, arms and ammunition were recovered from possession of the terrorists," he added. Earlier in April, four suspected militants were killed during an exchange of fire with police in the city's outskirts. The encounter took place when District Malir police, led by SSP Anwar, conducted a raid at a suspected militants' hideout in Quaidabad area.
