Three 'ter­ror­ists' killed in Karachi po­lice en­counter

KARACHI: At least three ter­ror­ists were killed dur­ing a po­lice en­counter in Karachi's Gul­shan-e-Bu­nair area on Sun­day.

One of the killed was iden­ti­fied as Muham­mad Riaz, said to be a mem­ber of the group, al Qaeda in the Sub­con­ti­nent (AQIS). The ter­ror­ists were wanted in many cases and be­longed to a banned out­fit, said SSP Rao An­war. "A huge cache of ex­plo­sives, sui­cide jack­ets, arms and am­mu­ni­tion were re­cov­ered from pos­ses­sion of the ter­ror­ists," he added. Ear­lier in April, four sus­pected mil­i­tants were killed dur­ing an ex­change of fire with po­lice in the city's out­skirts. The en­counter took place when District Malir po­lice, led by SSP An­war, con­ducted a raid at a sus­pected mil­i­tants' hide­out in Quaid­abad area.
