Miftah Ismail greeted
Progressive Group, in the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry, congratulating Miftah Ismail on his appointment as advisor to the PM on Finance and Rana Muhammad Afzal as State Minister of Finance has expressed the hope that both the personalities by using their knowledge and experience will succeed in putting the country’s economy back on track, which was witnessing some sluggishness because of political uncertainty.
In a joint statement issued here on Thursday, Progressive Group’s President Khalid Usman, Arshad Chaudhry, Muhammad Ejaz Tanveer, Abdul Wadood Alvi and others said that both should work for expanding revenue collection by bringing those in to the net who are out of it instead of squeezing the existing taxpayers.
They urged the newly appointed ministers to take the stakeholders on board while revamping the economic and financial policies. They said that they should immediately go for abolishing the regulatory duty which was recently levied by the government. They said that only ratio of direct taxes should be increased and indirect taxation should be discouraged.
