Shang­hai is full of sky­scrapers, es­pe­cially in the Pudong district across the river from down­town. The still fu­tur­is­tic-look­ing Ori­en­tal Pearl Tower (ori­en­tal­pearl­ and Jin Mao Tower (jin­ pro­vided two of the city’s ear­li­est ob­ser­va­tion decks, sur­passed in 2007 by the Shang­hai World Fi­nan­cial Cen­tre (swfc­shang­ boast­ing an ob­ser­va­tion deck 477 me­tres above street level. Now, Shang­hai Tower (shang­ has be­come China’s tallest and the world’s sec­ond-tallest build­ing (632 me­tres), cur­rently be­ing fit­ted out and promis­ing yet more ver­tig­i­nous views of this city on the way up.
